Why did I decide to study Automatic Control and Robotics?

Since middle school, maths and physics, and especially their practical aspects, have been my passion. At the age of 13, I started taking part in international scientific conferences on physics. In 2016-2017, I represented Belarus during the International Young Physicists' Tournament in Austria and Singapur. I’ve always enjoyed solving logic tasks, invent algorithms for various programmes or projects. Back in high school, I realised that in the future I would like to cooperate with a team of committed people, working on something innovative, which could benefit others. Automation and robotization of various processes are developing dynamically and is promising. Thanks to the work of engineers and their new inventions, applied science has been developing. I’m really fascinated by expanding the available knowledge and the possibility of helping people, and this is what I’m planning for the future. I would like to combine my passions related to maths, physics, programming and science with helping others.

  

Why did I decide to study in Poland?

When choosing a country for my studies, it was important for me to be able to communicate with people living in this country in their mother tongue. I’m a quite competitive person, and the knowledge of Polish makes it much easier to meet new people and deal with everyday issues. It was also important to be able to study on a fee-free basis and, of course, the level of education was of high importance. My mother tongue is Belarusian, which is very similar to Polish, so learning Polish was not very difficult for me, and it took me 8 months to learn it. Warsaw University of Technology is considered the best technical university in the country, and it also offers international students having no Polish origin the opportunity of studying in Polish on a fee-free basis.

 

In 2021, Ms Aliaksandra Shmyk became the award winner of the Interstudent 2021 competition. As part of the competition, the best international students in Poland are selected. The competition is organized by the Educational Foundation Perspektywy.
